You may be wondering...what exactly IS refinished furniture?
Refinished furniture is furniture that has been visually modified. It may have a new paint color or stain, it may have been transformed from a classic piece to coastal chic (just one of many potential styles!), or it may have a simple fix like new drawer knobs. See some examples of what we have available here!
We like to break the foundation of refinished furniture down into four key elements: paint color, wallpaper, drawer pulls, and wood stain.
- Paint Color: This is a big decision! Oftentimes, the furniture will start out as wood. A fresh coat of paint can help modernize the furniture or ensure it matches the new space it will belong in. Really think about your style and the style of the space the piece will live in. Like color? Go for something bold! More of a neutral person? Keep it basic.
- Wallpaper: Not just for walls! As you're thinking about incorporating a piece of refinished furniture in your space, think about if you want to play with patterns on the external part of the piece. For instance, could you line external drawers with wallpaper for an added pop of color? If you want to keep the external part of the piece free of wallpaper, perhaps include wallpaper as a drawer or cabinet liner. We love the look of wallpaper lined behind a glass door. Provides a pop of fun without stealing the show!
- Drawer Pulls: Maybe the easiest facelift a piece of furniture can get. If you are feeling short on time or like you don't want to completely transform your furniture, simply update its drawer pulls! There are so many different designs at affordable prices nowadays. Think about the theme of your space and what would work well as a drawer pull and start planning away.
- Wood Stain: You might already have a preference for light wood over dark wood. Maybe you haven't thought much about it at all. Whatever the case, now you know that it's very easy to re-stain furniture (and our furniture artists are here to help). Changing the stain on a piece of furniture can totally transform it, and there are so many stains to choose from. You'd be amazed at how much a great stain can enhance wood's natural beauty.
